Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge #91

Happy Saturday everyone!
We are having fabulous Spring weather here in TN...
the grass is green...
the trees are green...
temps in the 80's...
pollen count in the 700's!!
Yup!
That is not a misprint!
It's a trade off...
you get the beautiful country...
but it takes it's pay in giving you horrid allergies!
We're all sniffling, sneezing, coughing, runny nose, itchy eyes...
we're such a pleasure to be around...
*giggle*

So you know what Saturday's bring...
right?
My favorite Saturday activity...
another Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge!
And I'm just going to be honest with you...
right here...
right now...
it's a doozy!
*giggle*

Whew!
I wasn't lying was I?
I had a really hard time with this one...
I wanted to add layers!
And in all honesty...
I do believe this is my first one layer card.
I can't recall ever doing one before...
and I know why...
I WANT to add layers!
*giggle*
But isn't it fun to step outside your comfort zone...
try something new...
actually be challenged?
Here's what I came up with...

I used the new Waltzingmouse Chickenwire and French Country for this one...
and I love these colors together.
The red...
yellow...
blue...
I'm seriously loving this French Country so much...
I found a new tablecloth the other day that I've decided to redo my entire kitchen around...
and guess what it is?
Black...
with red and yellow roosters!!
And it even has just a touch of blue in the border...
perfect!
Poor hubby...
Claire had no idea her gorgeous stamps would cause me to rethink my kitchen...
and cause him so much pain...
but I have ideas...
*giggle*
These sets are so gorgeously perfect...
how could I not be inspired with all kinds of ideas?!

OK...
are you up for the challenge?
Hop over to the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge blog and check out all the incredible eye candy my fellow Mischief Makers have created just for you...
and then show us what you've got!
Remember to just use at least one Waltzingmouse product...
and one lucky participant will win the stamp set of their choice just for playing along!
We can't wait to see what you create!

Hope everyone has a wonderfully fabby week...
if you notice I'm a little scarce it's because I have my MIL in town...
but I should be back on schedule by Thursday!

12 Kits of Christmas

It's the 31st...
last day of the month...
and time for another 12 Kits of Christmas!

This is a monthly challenge group so full of talent I just bow in awe of these incredible ladies...
and each month one of us takes a turn being "hostess" and sending out identical kits full of papers, images, sentiments, embellishments...just whatever we like...to all of the other members and then we all use the same ingredients and create cards and/or projects with them...
revealing our projects to each other on the same day each month.
I love these kits!
Each month I get so excited knowing there is going to be a very happy mail day coming...
just full of surprises!
And this month was no exception!
Our wonderfully talented Suzanne was in charge of kits and she sent such a fabulous one...
I just died over the papers and images...
look...

Doesn't Kara just take the best photos...
she's our official photographer now...
after 3 months of forgetting to snap pics when the kits come in...
we felt we should make it official...
*giggle*
She's the best!

Now I'm just going to show you what I have because I'm trying to keep this fairly short so you will hop over and see all the other fabulous projects that everyone created...

Everything was included in the kits except for card base and the above photo's sentiment...
when I saw this paper I just "saw"  photobooth photos and just needed a small sentiment strip for this one so I stamped one from Waltzingmouse 2011 Vintage Ornaments.

Now I also have to say that I had another card...
but I had to sacrifice it to the Mtn Dew gods when I accidentally knocked over one when moving my laptop the other night...
it was the card or my laptop...
and since I'm typing I think you know which one I choose!

OK...
now go visit everyone and check out all of their inspiring, amazing creations...

Cathy
Suzanne
Marybeth
Joyce
Amy
Christina
Kim
Kara
Jessica
Jeanne
Sharron

and we'll see you again next month!
Hope you have a fabby week!

PTI March Blog Hop

Blog-hop-logo

Whew!
It's been a while since I've been able to participate in one of these...
I've missed it too!
How did I...
the woman who has nothing to do...
get so busy that I never have time for anything?
Go figure!
*giggle*

So this month when I saw this inspiration photo...

ideas started firing inside the brain.
Maybe it was the colors...
so bright and cheerful...
maybe it was the gorgeous ribbons and bows...
maybe it was the fabulous bold patterns...
but if I were you I would honestly lay my money on the fact that there was candy involved in this one...
and nothing inspires me to action like a good dose of sugar!
OK...caffeine actually does it but candy is really running a close 2nd!
*giggle*

So here's what I came up with after receiving my new goodies earlier this week...

I know...
you're thinking "that's a lot of red for a picture that's comprised of yellow and aqua"...
right?
BUT...
if you look closely...
the Now and Laters have red on their wrapping...
and even though I just now justified that point by scanning the photo with a magnifying glass...
I just really felt it needed a little "punch" so I just did my thing and went with red.
And I also know that I have previously discussed...
on a few occasions...
my color associations and aversion to using red and yellow together...
how it looks like ketchup, mustard and Ronald McDonald...
but I felt the aqua balanced it and actually made it look a little less like a condiment station.
Does that sound like a professional explanation...
"balanced"?
How about...
it was the colors in the paper and I just really love this paper so...
justified!
*giggle*

I used my new PTI Card Base-ics Scallop for this one...
I couldn't pick between the two and bought both...
to me the scallop says more "girl"...
the ticket corner says more "boy"...
and since I have a couple of each...
saved myself any decision making and got both because when these babies came up during previews...
and I was so not prepared for them...
well...
I died!
You know...
there's just some things in life that are necessity...
and I believe these may just be a couple of those things!
*giggle*

I also used PTI's new Birthday Tags...
again...
I died!
Love the poster typography that Nichole has been using lately in so many of her sets...
gets me every time...
and this set was no exception!

One last thing...
you can see where the ribbon runs behind the sentiment and comes out through an eyelet...
but please don't think I left it looking like that on the backside...
I adhered it to a card base and then just rounded the corners...
easy, peasy perfection! :)

OK...
I know there's lots of other really great cards and projects to oogle so I will let you be on your way...
and besides if you're still reading this...
God bless you...
you need a break!
And for sticking it out this long...
I'm going to go fill out your application for sainthood right now...
*giggle*

For Janelle...

If you're just tuning in...
take a hop over to Laurie's blog (Soapbox Creations) to start from the beginning...
but this is a special blog hop for a very special person...
Janelle from Show and Tell who is quite literally one of the sweetest, most encouraging and just amazing people you could ever hope to encounter.
Janelle was diagnosed with a brain tumor last Summer and if you have spent time on her blog...
then you know what a beautiful soul she is and I don't have to tell you about her beautiful creations...
unwavering faith...
her strength and courage...
and that incredibly beautiful smile that greets you with each visit.
Now I won't keep you long...
I want you to be able to get to everyone on this hop...
most especially Janelle...
and send some warm wishes to help brighten her day.
So here's a card I made for her...
and though it's not an exact CASE you can tell I was heavily inspired by Tosh's card here...
when I saw it I just knew this was one for Janelle...

I used Waltzingmouse Nordic Spring and that big, beautiful butterfly...
colored with a few Copics...
it just seems so fresh and clean...
just like Spring...
and a time of hope and new beginnings.

Janelle...
I hope you enjoy this and know that many thoughts, prayers and well wishes come with it!

Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge #90

Hello everyone!
Been a busy week around here...
and unfortunately it doesn't look as though life is going to get better with the weekend this time.
I say only 3 words to you...
mother-in-law.
I know she may not expect it...
but right now I'm cleaning things that are not my normal cleaning routine...
nooks and crannies...
behind the refrigerator...
you name it and I'm there preparing for her arrival on Wednesday.
So life will be rough for a while...
at least I have my Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge's to look forward to...
right?
And what's that?
It's Saturday?
YAY!!
Time for this week's sketch so here you go...

Now I had a doozy of a time with this one...
what was I thinking?!
But that's the point of a challenge...
right?
I'm just making you work for it this week...
*giggle*
And here's what I came up with...

I used my new to me Waltzingmouse Sewing Box Hugs...
stamped the flowers on some of my favorite AMuse gingham papers...
and even though it may be hard to tell...
I layered with the colors...
orange/yellow, red/pink...
you get the idea!
And did you notice that gorgeous lace?
Yup!
Claire has it in the store and it is absolutely divine...
I bought some in both white and natural!
And I'm really hoping she continues to carry lace and ribbons...
she uses so many gorgeous ones that I can't find here in the States so I would thrilled to know that she can be my "connection" for these goodies!

So ready to get inky?
Go and check out all the yummy goodies the Mischief Makers have for you over at the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge Blog...
you will not be disappointed...
and then just link up your creation for us so we can oogle it!
Just remember to use at least one Waltzingmouse product...
and if you're lacking...
Claire has some freebies for you here...
and one lucky participant will win the stamp set of their choice just for playing along!

Market Street Paint the Town

Nothing like squeaking in at the last minute for a challenge...
especially when you've had a card ready for a week!!
And as soon as I saw the colors for Market Street Stamps Paint the Town color challenge...
I died!
NAVY!!!
My absolute-love-it-more-than-chocolate-sometimes-will-not-buy-something-because-it-doesn't-come-in-Navy color.

Seriously.

It's my favorite color.

So anyway when I saw my favorite color in the whole wide world in this challenge I said to myself...
"Self...
it's NAVY...
ya gotta do this one!"
And I admit that color challenges are not my thing...
I think it's because I have color association issues...
you know...
red and yellow is actually ketchup and mustard.
If you add green to the mix...
well then you have ketchup, mustard and pickles!
OK...maybe I just have food issues but anyway I do not participate in a lot of color challenges because of this.
But here's the fabulous colors that Market Street choose for this one...

Aren't they gorgeous?
I told you they were gorgeous!
And this is what's been sitting in my computer for a week...

I used MSS Cane background...
have you tried their background stamps?
Oh my giggling goodness...
you have to!
They are so fabulous!
perfectly sized for an A2 card...
and they're clear so you can see where you're stamping!
YAY!!
Used Spellbinders Label 4 to stamp a beautiful sentiment from Comforting Florals...
and then tied off with some navy ribbon.
Viola!
Easy peasy...
and a great card to send to someone who's going through a rough time.

Hope you have a wonderful week!

The Details:
Stamps: Market Street Cane Background and Comforting Florals
Cardstock: PTI Hawaiian Shores, Vintage Cream, SU Night of Navy
Dies: PTI Edgers #3, Spellbinders Labels 4
Misc: ribbon

PS  In case you're wondering where my 4th color is...look at the label.  I'm counting my teastain as that 4th one because apparently I also have issues using 4 colors...*giggle*

Watzingmouse Sketch Challenge #89

Top 'O the Morning to You!!
It's Saturday!
It's March 17th!
It's St. Patrick's Day!
You know...
the day when everyone all over the world claims their Irish heritage...
whether it exists or not...
*giggle*
Now personally...
I can claim it...
it really does exist!
And with the last name of Lynch...
it's also kind'a hard to deny!
Granted it's my husband's last name...
his father's parents immigrated from Ireland and settled in Quebec...
and then his father came to the US...
but when comparing family heritage...
turns out I'm even more Irish than he is!
I got it from all sides...
and every direction!
*giggle*
And even though we won't celebrate today with green beer...
I'm a mixed drinks kind'a person...
we are very proud of our Irish heritage.
So here's to wishing you a wonderfully green...
and safe...
St. Patrick's Day!

And what better way to celebrate than with a new Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge!
Here's this week's sketch...
A flower?
On St. Patrick's...
naw...
here's what I did with it...

I had a devil of a time trying to photograph this...
you either couldn't see the gold foil...
or it was all glare and would blind you...
this was the best I could do...
sorry!
Now I used lots of Waltzingmouse goodies with this one...
that background?
Stamped it myself using Offbeat Backgrounds!
If you do not own this set...
how are you living?
You can make your own PLAID!
I love it!
And just knowing it's in my stash helps me sleep at night!
*giggle*
I also gold embossed some Fancy Flourishes, Scallops and Dots on the shamrock that I die cut using my Cricut...
thought it added a little something special to it!

And then that uber fabulous sentiment is from Irish Blessings...

see!
Even though it's a CAS...
there's still so much Waltzingmouse goodness with it!

Now...go get inky before the celebrations begin...
don't worry...
you have time!
But first stop over at the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge Blog to see what all of my amazingly talented fellow Mischief Makers have cooked up for you to feast your eyes upon!
Just remember to use at least one Waltzingmouse product...
and one lucky person will win the stamp set of their choice just for playing along!
And...
today is a Twofer!
*giggle*
Not only is it a new sketch challenge...
YAY!!!
Every month on the 17th we come together for a party...
and oohhh and oogle everyone's gorgeous creations...
and gain tons of inspiration from each other...
you can get all the details on Claire's blog here.
And don't panic...
you have plenty of time to get your craft on and link up!
This month's theme is what else...
St. Patrick's/Irish/Green
If you don't have any Waltzingmouse or Irish stamps or sentiments...
no worries...
Claire's got your back!
Pop over to the store here and you will find some downloadable freebies that I believe will fit the occasion perfectly!

Now I'm still trying to finish up for Blog Party...
had a very busy, hectic week...
and either I'll be back later with another post...
or I'll be back later editing this one...
*wink*
*giggle*
Hope to see you at the party!

4 of Kind - #7

Hi, everyone!
Hope you are having a fabulous week!
We are enjoying weather in the 80's...
a little rain...
and we did have a hailstorm the other afternoon...
came out of nowhere and scared the beejeebers out of me...
but sunshine and 80's forecast for the next week!
Are we sure it's only March?
And what does this mean for July and August?
I dread the thought if we're already experiencing Summer temps at the beginning of Spring!
So you can tell by the post title what today is all about...
A brief run down in case this is your first visit...
each month Joyce, Cathy, Kim and I create cards and projects from a kit that the hostess sends out...
and then on the 16th we "reveal" what we were able to do with the exact same ingredients!
We rotate months and this month's kit was sent by the incredibly wonderful Joyce...
and she choose to use PTI's On My Couch and On My Couch Additions!
Now I don't own these sets and I really enjoy when we get to play with sets we may not own ourselves...
a perfect "test run"...
and look at all the goodies that were included in this fabulous kit...

And here is what I was able to pull together with it...
though I still have enough supplies for another 5 cards at least...
probably more! :)

See that gorgeous red rosette...
Joyce made that!

Almost everything came from the kits except for the card base..
though I did add a few things...
the Small Madison Window die from Poppystamps...
Teeny Trees from Waltzingmouse Stamps...
and some other creative die cuts with Spellbinders and PTI!

OK!  Now you have to go check out what
Joyce
Cathy
Kim
were able to come up with...
I can't wait to see...
and to see if any of us were thinking along the same lines!
Thanks so much for stopping by...
and don't forget about Waltzingmouse Blog Party on Saturday...
celebrating St. Patrick's Day with a St. Patrick's Day/ Irish/ Green theme!

Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge #88

Good Saturday morning everyone!
Long time...

Have been busy still getting over that nasty stomach flu that my children so graciously decided to share with me...
why is it that kids won't share chocolate but when it comes to germs...
they can't wait to share those with great big hugs and kisses?

Now since it's Saturday...
you know what that means...
time for another fun sketch from Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge...
YAY!!
Here's this week sketch...

Super easy...
lots of room for interpretation...
and here's what I did...

I still had Asian Garden Additions on my table...
and I kept it CAS...
which I actually find extremely challenging so I try to practice and to me this set is just perfect for it!
The images are so beautiful...
the font is extraordinarily gorgeous...
and sometimes images speak so beautifully all by themselves.

OK...now you have to hop over to the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge Blog and check out all the inspiring eye candy the incredibly talented Mischief Makers have prepared for you...
seriously...
so much talent I still pinch myself that they let me play with them!
And then go get inky!
Link up your creation with the linky provided so we can come and oogle your creative genius...
just make sure to use at least one Waltzingmouse product...
and one lucky participant will win the stamp set of their choice just for playing!

And mark your calendars folks!
Next Saturday is not only another fabulous Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge...
nor is it just St. Patrick's Day...
it's Waltzingmouse Blog Party!!!
And the theme this month is what else...
ST. PATRICK'S DAY/IRISH/GREEN
Now before you think "I don't have anything Irish"...
go and check out the freebies Claire has in the store for you here...
I think you will be creatively surprised to find a couple of things perfect for this occasion!

Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge #87

Good morning everyone!
Hope you all have had a fabulous week!
Me...
well...
you know that stomach flu I mentioned the kids had last weekend and I was busy spraying and wiping every surface with Lysol trying to kill the germs because I'm a mom and just too busy to get sick and then when I sent the last one back to school earlier this week and breathed a sigh of relief because I thought I had outsmarted the stomach flu...
I'm not as smart as I thought.
I caught it.
And thought.I.was.going.to.die!
Seriously...
My hair hurt!
How does that even happen?
Everything hurt...
I was dying.
As you can tell...I do not not handle illness well because I am very rarely sick beyond a sinus infection or allergies and I live in the South and those are just part of the deal for living in my beloved South...
so I'm very unaccustomed to actually being sick.
I even had love-of-my-life tucking me into bed...
but when I asked him to sing "Soft Kitty"...
he said "no"...turned out the light...and left me.
But I'm feeling better now...
until I arose from my deathbed and emerged to find piles of laundry and dishes...
can no one load a dishwasher?...
and the family room looked like a frat house at the end of a long weekend of partying...
minus beer bottles.
At least I know I was about to be missed...
when they ran out of clean clothes and dishes!
And because of a phone call on Thursday I actually discovered that according to my baby child...it was not the stomach flu after all...
a friend who works at my children's elementary called to relay a conversation she had had with Dinky...

Dinky:         Miss Kelly! (running to her...very excited)
Miss Kelly:  What Dinky?
Dinky:         Miss Kelly guess what!!
Miss Kelly:  What! What!
Dinky:        My mommy is going to have a baby!!
Miss Kelly: OMG!!!  WHAT??!
Dinky:        YES!!
And I don't know what it is but I hope it's a boy or a girl!

For the record...
so not preggers!
It was the stomach flu...
but can you imagine getting a message asking if you're pregnant because your child who can not always separate imagination from reality is telling everyone you are?!!
And he's hoping it's a boy or a girl...
what else could it be?!!
Reminds me of when I was expecting him and Haley went up to a total stranger at dance class and told her I was pregnant and when the lady asked "Is it baby brother or baby sister?"...
she said "Neither...
it's a bean!"
That's what he looked like on the picture at the time anyway...
*giggle*

So...stomach flu...check!
Total embarrassment...check!
A busy week...always!
And now it's time for something fun...
another Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge...
YAY!!

A super easy sketch this week...

Did you see who did this one...
go easy on her...
she's had a really rough week...
*giggle*
But lots of room for interpretation!
And this is what I did with it...

I used Waltzingmouse Asian Gardens Additions and kept it CAS...
though I did add a few small pearls to make the raindrops "pop" just a bit.
Plus they cover up little boo-boos quite nicely...
only ssshhh!  Don't tell anyone I told you because I'm not actually confessing to having any!
*giggle*
I added some Crate Paper Portrait patterned paper in jade and gold...
thought it had an Asian vibe going to it and would compliment the focal point and colors...
what do you think?

So are you ready to get inky?  Hop over to the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge Blog and check out all the fabulous eye candy the Mischief Makers have created for you...
and then link up your creation for us to oogle!
Just remember to use at least one Waltzingmouse product...
and one lucky participant will win the stamp set of their choice just for playing along!

And did you see the announcement for this month's Blog Party on Claire's blog?
You can check all the info here...
and if you go here...
Claire has some fabulous freebies for you so you can play along!
And check out the store for all the incredible new sets that were released this week...
9 new incredible sets...
I'm thinking about starting to stalk the mailman in just a couple more days...
I think he misses me when I don't...
*giggle*
Hope your week is fabulous!
