12 Kits - November

Hello, Hello!
It's that time of the month again...
time for another...

And this month our hostess is the incredibly wonderful Jeanne...
and let me just say that when this kit arrived last month...
OMGoodness!!
There was so many goodies inside...
Christmas came early!!
Seriously...
here's a peek...

And that wonderful photo is from our incredible Kara...
who even though there was a catastrophic storm headed straight for her...
still remembered to snap a pic!
Me?
I would have been stocking up on Mtn Dew and Twinkies...
and then hitting the road for higher ground because I'm brave like that!
*giggle*

OK...
so you'll want to actually stick around 'cause I got some goodies for you at the end of this...
but here's what I did with only an incredibly small portion of what Jeanne sent...
seriously...
you should see the list.
Serendipity Stamps and dies...
Cheery Lynn, Spellbinders, Memory Box, Marianne Creatables dies...
seam binding, twine, velvet and lace ribbons...
buttons, gems...
cardstock and patterned papers...
it was an AH-MAZ-ING kit!!

And since Jeanne is a girlie girl...
seriously...
her cards are stunningly gorgeous layers of perfection...
ribbons and die cuts...
fru-fru...
I just imagine her in real life with clothes that match everyday...
and that she fixes her hair and puts on makeup just to go to the mailbox.
Me?
If I remember to brush my hair before heading out in the mornings I'm like...
"Whoo-hoo...
I'm dressed up today!"
But I just imagine Jeanne as so girly...
so it only makes sense that I do...
sweet and simple!
*giggle*

Do you think I could have possibly left a clue to my personality here...
possibly my serious love of all things plaid?
*giggle*
Yup!
I used every single bit of that tartan...
reminds me of my younger days and my love of the Bay City Rollers...
couldn't resist!

OK...
hold on for just a bit longer!!
Now...
in honor of our 12 Kits posting this month...
Mary Dew Lee...
the owner of Serendipity Stamps...
is having a one day sale...
20% off all Christmas!!
So make sure to drop by and pick up some of these gorgeous images for yourself...
that Santa?
I think you need him.
He is SO incredibly adorable I just die!!

But that's not all!!
Make sure you drop by and visit all of the girls...
leaving comments along the way...
and there's a prize!!
I'm not telling you what it is...
you have to go along to all the girls first and I'm saving Jeanne for last where she will have all the details!
Sneaky!! :)
Plus...
we have a special guest this month...
more info will be coming soon on some changes that will be coming up in the new year...
but the incredibly sweet and uber talented Kelly Schirmer from Gingham Girl is joining us this month as well!
See...
told you!
All kinds of goodies!
Now hop along and see what everyone else was able to come up with using this incredible kit...

Jeanne

OK...
a long post...
I know...
but just a little longer!
If you've visited in the last couple of weeks you know I've been busy making all kind of Christmas goodies and the big tree is done so here's a couple of shots...

A close view of some of the handmade ornaments...
and remember this...

Here it is with the little gifts tucked in...
ala Little House on the Prairie style...

tissue paper and twine!
The kids have already divied up the days...
and Dinky has been caught on more than one occasion trying to sneak a package!

Now...
go visit everyone and see what they created...
and remember to leave comments along the way for a chance to win a fabby prize...
and we'll be back again next month where our wonderful Sharron is hostess...
can't wait to see what she has for us!!

Make sure to stop back by again tomorrow for a new Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge!

And Yet Another Ornament...

Yup!
Busy, busy, busy!
Even though I thought I was done for this year's Christmas season...
I squeezed in one last ornament for the tree.
I couldn't resist when I saw this super simple ornament on Pinterest...

And I decided to pull out Waltzingmouse Sewing Box Christmas to make some of my own...

Now...
I also have some with the adorable little tree from this set...
but just realized I forgot to snap a pic of one of them but I think you get the idea...
right?
The perfect set for this little handmade ornament!
All I did was cut my fabric with a Quikkutz pinking square die...
then stamped the image...
handstitched the sides...
a little fiberfill...
then topped with a button and some twine to hang from the branches!

Now...
I'm done!
I've got a long list of other projects to get to before Christmas arrives in less than a month now...
whew!
It's coming quick!

Have a wonderful week...
and have you seen the fabulous new sketch for Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge this week?
Still plenty of time to join in...
you can get all the details here and we can't wait to see what you create!

Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge #125

Hello, hello!
Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving...
had enough turkey to last until next month when Christmas rolls around and...
we do it again!
*giggle*
So who braved the masses for some Black Friday shopping?
I saw this on Pinterest a while back and I have to say....
sums it up pret-ty good...

Haley and I started going out  together a few years ago and now it's just kind'a become a tradition for us...
a mom and daughter thing...
and not to leave Hunter out...
but she does not enjoy shopping if we're the only ones in a store...
so Black Friday would be her personal interpretation of...
well...
you know what!
*giggle*
So she stays home...
she gets to sleep...
and Haley and I just go out for the fun of shopping in the middle of the night...
trying to get a good deal on something...
though we're very rarely after anything!
It's all just for fun.
But they messed it up this year with starting on Thanksgiving night so early...
we didn't enjoy it and have already said that we'll be doing things differently next year.
Don't know what...
but it wasn't as much fun as getting up at 3 am and trying to decide where to go first...
coordinating opening times and stores...
we missed the fun of the old way.
And after being in a sleep deprived zombie state for most of yesterday...
I'm ready to get to something fun...
and what's more fun than some personal crafty time?
Especially when you can do it in the comfort of your own home...
in your jammies...
and no lunatic crowds?
*giggle*
So how about a new and fabulous Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge to jump start some creativity?
This fun sketch is from the incredible Jean Martin...

And I had to pull out something new for this one...

Yup...
the new Waltzingmouse Yonder Star!
I die over that sentiment...
and let me just warn you now...
you're going to see a lot of it around here in the next few weeks because seriously...
I die!!
It is absolutely perfect for this country girl and I just can't get enough of it!
If you look close...
that's the outline star stamped faintly behind it...
I love that Claire included an outline one perfect for coloring...
and a solid for quick and easy stamping.
Now I cut the star out by hand...
since I was stamping the sentiment onto it and knew there would be some overlapping...
I didn't use the cut file that Claire has made available for free in the store...
but you can find it here!
And I used Off Beat Backgrounds to stamp a plaid background...
the best plaid background building stamp ever...
though the new cover-a-card backgrounder Cabin Plaid is perfect for a quick and easy background...
mine just had not arrived when doing this one...
but take my word when I say if I'm using one color...
it's going to be Cabin Plaid...
but I love that Off Beat Backgrounds allow you to create plaid in various colors so easy peasy!

I randomly stamped the stars included in Yonder Star for the small strip behind the focal point...
used some burlap ribbon that I have for the banners...
and I was all done!

So are you ready to join us for a little crafty fun?

I'm Still Busy...

making ornaments and getting the house decorated for the holidays!
And if you happen to be looking for my Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge/Blog Party post...
just scroll down or click here!
I kind'a made a little boo-boo when linking! :(

So I'm still at making some crafty things for the holidays...
my crafty space is a obstacle course at the moment with landmines at every step...
candy canes...
twine...
papers...
glass...
name it and I bet I have it in here somewhere!
But I'm winding down for this year...
any project not gotten to will have to wait for next year...
but at least I'll have some necessities already on hand...
and sometimes they can be a little hard to find if I stick to my pledge of getting them done during the lazy days of summer when it's 110 in the shade and there's no way I'm leaving the comfort of my air conditioning!

So these are my latest...
warning...
there's a few pics here so hang on...
but what started out as these...

have become these...

Harlequin country ornaments!
And I can tell you I made quite a few mistakes doing these!
I took the raw wood shapes that I picked up at my local Michael's...
and decided I could just stamp right onto the wood using my most used and much loved harlequin background stamp from Waltzingmouse Heirloom Patterns...
and I know I don't have to tell you...
but seriously...
I use it a LOT...
and I'm sure I can stamp directly onto the wood but...
not with dye ink.
It started running!
So my next brilliant idea was to paint the ornaments with an acrylic paint and then stamp again...
boy did that create a mess!
The paint merged with the ink...
not pretty!
So I decided that I would stamp the pattern onto some lightweight cardstock I keep on hand for printing digi papers...
and then cut the shapes out with a craft knife.
Not the easiest way...
it would have been better to use acrylic paint to just stamp my pattern onto the shape...
but when in need of caffeine...
I don't always make the best decisions.
So I took the long...
hard way...
but with my handy dandy little craft knife...
got them done!
And I kind'a like the paper on top now that I am finished...
I sanded some of the edges to give more of a distressed look...
and a final topcoat of Mod Podge...
they're all sealed up!
And of course...
it's not country unless there's some jute twine and jingles right?

Super simple...
if you don't factor in my missed shortcuts!
*giggle*
But my big tree is done...
I'll get around to snapping a pic of it soon since some have asked...
and next tree year I think I'm going to work on my small tree that is in the front entrance...
it needs a new look!

Hope you have a wonderful week...
and if you're traveling for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday...
safe travels...
and wonderfully Happy Thanksgiving!

Waltzingmouse...

and today's new sketch challenge is also pulling double duty for...
Today we have 2 challenge's for you...
a new Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge...
and since it happens to fall on the 17th...
it's Blog Party too!
So I used today's fabulous new sketch...
by our extremely talented Mischief Maker Karin Akesdotter to also create a project for our monthly party!
Here's the creative new sketch...

Here's my take on both of these challenge's...

I pulled out the gorgeous Waltzingmouse Peace and Plenty...
and paired it up with a sentiment from Blessed By You.
I used my favorite fall color combo...
navy and orange...
and colored the image with some Copics.
That polka dot paper on the side is from AMuse...
and a little jute ribbon and some metallic bling...
and that fabby stitched border is from Lil' Inkers...
all done!
Sweet and simple...
just the way I like 'em!

OK...so if you don't have a project ready for Blog Party just yet...
what better way to get a jump start on your creativity than to use this fabulous sketch?
Hop over to the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge Blog and check out all the incredible projects the Mischief Makers and DT have to inspire you...
then link up your creation with the linky provided for your chance to become Top Mouse and...
don't forget that one lucky participant will win the stamp set of their choice just for playing along!

And if you're lacking a little Waltzingmouse...
check out the Freebie section in the store HERE to get you started!

And don't forget to link up your project for Blog Party on Claire's Blog here...
where you'll have another chance to win the stamp set of your choice!
We can't wait to see what you create with this...
and see you at the Party!

Hope you have a wonderful week...
and for all my American friends...
have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!

Four of a Kind - November

Good morning everyone!
It's that time of the month again...
time for another...

with Joyce, Kim and Cathy.
Joyce was our hostess this month and as usual...
outdid herself and sent an incredible kit full of all kinds of yummy goodness...

I'm not going to keep you long so that you can hop and see what the other girls were able to do with this incredible array of goodies...
so here's what I came up with...

And yes...
I have LOTS of goodness left over.
In fact...
I have a basket that is full of all of the leftovers from all the kits...
minus anything that I've pulled since that kit for another project...
and I'm not the only one who has amassed lots of leftovers...
so next month is "Leftover Month".
No kit...
just going into our stashes and using up some of the incredible goodies we've already received over the last year...
should be fun to mix up elements from different kits!

I know Joyce has all the details of supplies used for this month...
so I'm just going to send you on your way to go visit...

Joyce
Kim
Cathy

and see the goodies they prepared!
Hope you have a fabulous weekend...
maybe you still have to run out and pick up things for your Thanksgiving celebration next week...
or maybe you plan on pulling out your holiday decorations so you're prepared to hang the lights next weekend...
but don't forget about the new sketch challenge over on the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge Blog tomorrow...
which also happens to coincide with Waltzingmouse Blog Party that will be happening and with the theme of GRATITUDE...
a perfect reason to play along with both!
Hope to see you there!

No...The World Is Not...

coming to an end.
At least not yet!
I know in recent months it's been a very rare occasion to catch me posting more than once..
twice a week...
but after the holidays...
there's some big changes coming to my schedule...
more on that later...
so prepare for Armageddon then...
*giggle*

No...I finished my next project...
and I know this could be taken the wrong way...
but I die over it...
and have to share!
Again...
this idea came from Pinterest so it's not original for me...
I just did my own thing with it.
Ready?
Here's what I started with...

an old wooden Coca-Cola crate...
and this is what it became...

My new advent calendar!!
Isn't it cool?
It's so ME!
Country to the core...
except for my musical tastes...
but we've already discussed how I'm an embarrassment to my country roots and the fact that I live right outside of the home of country music...
but in my defense...
my teen thinks I'm uber cool and I rock!!

So I should have warned you but there's a few more pics...
a closer view of the tags...

I used Waltzingmouse Very Vintage Label #5 and corresponding Nestie dies to cut the "tag"...
for lack of a better term at the moment (I still need more coffee!)...
out of WPlus9's Oatmeal cardstock and then adhered onto what you don't see...
their new wafer board.
I then hotglued some twine looped onto the back and then glued another wafer board die cut onto the backside...
makes these tags super sturdy!
If you haven't tried the wafer board...
you need some.
Seriously...
it's now a "stock item" in my stash...
I'll never be caught without it because it is just so useful for so many different things!
But I thought the Very Vintage Labels #5 were the perfect shape, size and look I wanted for my countdown...
and if you look closely...
you'll see that each one is stamped lightly with some of the different snowflakes from WPlus9"s Folk Art Flurries...
and then I used Waltzingmouse Victorian Alphabet to stamp my numbers!
I love the look...
vintage...
country...
now you know why I love these two companies.
Claire has the most incredible vintage images ever...
and Dawn...
well...she's my country!
And don't you think they can mesh so well together?

OK...
here's a shot of kind'a what it'll look like as we count down the days...

I really just shoved some tissue I literally had right at my fingertips...
so no goodies tucked in yet.
Plus...
we're talking my kids.
If there's candy in those little cubbies...
it'll never make it to December and the actual countdown!
Closer to December I'll actually wrap little "gifts" to be unwrapped each morning by whichever kiddo has that day...
seriously...
we have to take turns or massive anarchy incurs occurs.
(edited:  Now you see what happens when I try to do something before at least one pot of coffee has entered my system!)
I don't call them the Lynch Mob without a reason!
*giggle*

Here's a shot of the idea pic that got me started on this...

Pinterest http://jswfield.blogspot.com
And you can see that there's so many ways to turn this into something that's your own personal style...
so what do you think?
Is swinging by the antique store now on your "to do" list?
Maybe hunting in the attic or basement for one of these old crates?

Now...
a real quick peek at my next project...

But can't start till I finish my project for Waltzingmouse Blog Party that's coming up this Saturday...
you didn't forget did you?
There's still plenty of time to get a project done...
and this month's theme is GRATITUDE...
how perfect for just before Thanksgiving?
Hope to see you then!

I've Been Busy...

Hello! Hello!
Popping in very quickly...
I know...
don't faint!
Me?
Posting mid week?
What's up with that...
right?
But I've been busy getting ready for my most favoritest season of the year...
CHRISTMAS!!
Yup!
I'm putting up trees...
lighting the lights...
hanging garland...
I love decorating for the holidays!
I love the way the house just "feels" during the holidays...
so warm and cozy...
so inviting.
Alright...
I'll admit that with my Lynch Mob...
also very chaotic...
but I seem to find that extremely comforting too.
Let's me know that life is preceding as planned! :)

So with decorating I'm really behind on everything else right now...
a thousand and one things to do so it only makes sense that I spent all day yesterday...
making ornaments!
When laundry piles up...
and the kitchen needs to be cleaned...
time to hide in the craft room and hope the house fairy comes for a visit!
*giggle*
She didn't by the way.
BUT...
hubby was off yesterday for Veteran's Day and let me just tell you...
I don't believe there is anything sexier than a man folding laundry!
*wink*
I do love that man!

So really quickly...
here's a couple of ornaments that I whipped up yesterday...

I used my WPlus9 Stacking Stars and cut the 2 largest sizes...
one in recycled corrugated paper...
the other in some Christmas music that I bought off Etsy.
A little seam binding and rusty jingles...
and I adhered them too WPlus9's new Wafer Board and applied a little Mod Podge to make them sturdier so they last a few Christmases...
and there's now a collection hanging on the tree!

And this one is a Dollar Tree plastic candy cane wrapped in twine...
some gingham ribbon...
and using some of the left over corrugated paper...
I cut the teeny star from Stacking Stars...
a button and twine and some teeny rusty jingles...
love it!!
Though I was injured quite a bit making these...
I keep forgetting that the glue coming from the hot glue gun is actually like really hot...
and today my fingers were kind'a tender...
I went and picked up more candy canes this morning because I have 9 feet of tree and I just really love these so I want more.
I also picked up some other goodies...
seriously...
Dollar Tree is like a DIY'ers paradise of possibilities...
but you'll have to wait for those projects!
Only I also had a mission this morning...
was on the hunt for a certain item and managed to score one at my first antique store stop...
can you guess what I'm going to do with this...

I will give hints...
all of these ideas came from Pinterest.
Sorry...
I'm not original.
I have 4 kids.
I'm too tired to be original...
*giggle*
But I do add my own little touches to ideas I see along the way...
and I can't wait to get started on this one!!

Hope everyone is having a wonderful week...
see you on Saturday for a new sketch challenge and since it's the 17th...
Waltzingmouse Blog Party!!!
The theme this month is GRATITUDE...
hope to see you there!

Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge #123

Good morning everyone!
Hope you had a wonderful week!
It sure did fly by didn't it?
Or is it that I was so busy and accomplished nothing and am now so far behind...
that it just seems like I missed a week?
It really feels that way!

Popping in really quickly for my favorite Saturday pastime...
a new Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge!
This week our fabulous sketch is from the uber talented Lenet Mos...

I finally received my new goodies after they were kidnapped delayed at JFK for a bit...
and of course I had to break them in...
so I used Vintage Garden Seed Packet for this one...

I used the absolutely divine pumpkin image from this set...
seriously...
no photo can do it justice...
it is ah-maz-ing in real life.
This one is super simple...
I think that image is so spectacular it needs to be able to shine all on it's own...
so a little layering on some new fabulous Farmhouse Sugar Hill paper (thank you Sharron!)...
lace and a button...
and that sweet sentiment from Bountiful Basket Additions...
all done!

So are you ready to join us?

Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge #122

Good Saturday morning everyone!
Hope y'all all had a great week!
And if you're on the East coast...
hoping that you weathered Storm of the Century (for now) Sandy with little or no damage!
That storm was massive...
we even felt some of the effects here in TN.
Some areas in the mountains of East TN got 40 inches of snow...
and we had cold, gusty winds for 2 days!
On Wednesday I was driving on an overpass in Nashville and literally was gripping my steering wheel with both hands and trying to just stay in my lane the wind was gusting so bad!
I couldn't imagine being on the East coast when the storm actually hit and what y'all had to go through...
our thoughts and prayers are with you!

But lets get to something fun...
everyone needs a little fun right?
And what better than a new sketch from Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge Blog?
This week is super simple sketch because well...
that's how I do 'em!

And since I will begin decorating for Christmas this weekend...
yup!
Hubby has been instructed to start pulling it down from the attic because I'm going into Christmas mode...
I thought it only fitting that I start it off with a Christmas card...

Pulled out the amazingly gorgeous Santa's Coming to Town...
have you ever seen a Santa silhouette so perfectly gorgeous?
It's perfection!
Stamped behind him...
though you can barely see it...
the beautiful snowflake image included in the set...
along with that incredible sentiment!
A little patterned plaid from OA Holiday Style...
some lace and black velvet...
a little twine and a gem...
simple and done!

So are you ready to join us?
Need a little starting help in getting your Christmas cards ready?
Hop over to the Waltzingmouse Sketch Challenge Blog and check out all the incredible projects the Mischief Makers and DT have to inspire you...

12 Kits of Christmas

Oops!
I did it again!
Got confused with my days! :(
But in all fairness...
we're a little later than normal because of Sandy.
So many of us live in the North East...
we thought it would be better to wait until after the storm passed to post up our projects so of course...
I got confused!
But hoping that everyone who went through Sandy is safe...
and unscathed from her immense path of destruction.
Seeing the pictures...
it's hard to imagine going through that.
Kara...we're thinking of you!

OK...
so it's time for another edition of...

This month our wonderful hostess was Jessica who loaded us up with a fabulous kit containing MME papers...
Paper Smooches images and sentiments...

here's a peek of all the goodies...
courtesy of Amy...

I'm not going to keep you long...
just know that I had so much fun playing with the colors and images in this kit...

Hope you enjoyed this kit as much as I did...
